Research assistant position to work on Comparative genomics of fungal pathogens

The Bioinformatics department at Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (CIPF), Valencia (Spain) is seeking exceptional candidates to fill one pre-doctoral researcher position to work on a research project focused on genomics of human fungal pathogens.

The project will be developed within the context of a european consortium, FunPath, that is part of the EU-funded ERA-NET Pathogenomics network. The candidate will work in comparative genomics of Candida glabrata and other fungal species to identify genes and pathways involved in mechanisms of pathogenesis and virulence.

We offer a 3-years, full time research assistant contract starting around February 2007. The bioinformatics department and the CIPF provide an internationally competitive research environment.

Qualification
The ideal candidate must hold a university degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer sciences or a related field, have a strong interest in bioinformatics and comparative genomics and be highly motivated to work in this specific project. Programming skills in C, python or similar languages as well as previous research experience in comparative genomics are desired.
