Bioinformatician Vacancy at the British Antarctic Survey

Location Cambridge, East Anglia, UK

Our mission at the British Antarctic Survey is to undertake a world-class programme of scientific research, addressing key issues of global or fundamental importance that require access to the Antarctic or related regions.
Based in Cambridge, you will assist in the development and application of bioinformatics tools to analyse data from the environmental genomics, ecophysiology and biodiversity projects. Your role will include developing the infrastructure for the archiving and analyses of data, as well as building and installing software plus testing, and you will also actively liaise between IT support and biologists.

With an MSc in Bioinformatics, you will have proven experience in experimental design and a sound understanding of statistics. You will also have a good knowledge of building and installing software, scripting capability in either Python or Perl, and the ability to program in Java. In addition, you will have first hand expertise in the use of a Linux operating system and you will be an excellent communicator.
