AstraZeneca's Cancer Target Selection Group is looking to recruit a bioinformatician, preferably with postdoctoral experience or equivalent, to help generate and explore potential new drug target ideas. This is an excellent opportunity to put your applied bioinformatics skills into action, to aid the transition of breaking science into new therapeutic approaches.
Your primary focus will be on using applied bioinformatics approaches to aid evaluation and interpretation of a wide variety of diverse data sources to strengthen association between genes and cancer, and on developing infrastructure to aid this process. As well as experiencing the challenges and rewards of important research, you will also enjoy the stimulation of working closely with colleagues in a range of disciplines.
This position will involve both the analysis and interpretation of biological data, therefore a balance of biological knowledge and technical bioinformatics skills are required. A self-motivated individual capable of organising and driving your own research with appropriate guidance, you will have a first degree in a biological science and experience of designing and implementing bioinformatics solutions to address biological research problems, ideally within a field of cancer research.
