Bioinformatics Position At Rothamsted Research

Position Bioinformatics Scientist: Crop Informatics
Organisation Rothamsted Research
Location Herts, South East, UK
Salary £24,200 to £27,200 per annum

Rothamsted Research is the leading UK Research Institute focusing on the science underpinning the sustainability of arable crops and includes research on model plants such as Arabidopsis and the pathogens and insects that affect agricultural systems. An increasing amount of our research uses molecular genetic, genomic and metabolomic techniques. Because of recent strategic investments in crop science and bioenergy crop research, we are expanding our team of bioinformatics scientists in the Department of Biomathematics and Bioinformatics to take advantage of the increasing volume and complexity of data that is being collected.

Python Utilities

So I use a number of languages and I figured I would build a python module/class that helps me with my work... I am doing this because I am waiting for my SVMs to train...

Bioinformatician Vacancy at the British Antarctic Survey

Position Bioinformatician
Organisation British Antarctic Survey
Location Cambridge, East Anglia, UK

Our mission at the British Antarctic Survey is to undertake a world-class programme of scientific research, addressing key issues of global or fundamental importance that require access to the Antarctic or related regions.
Based in Cambridge, you will assist in the development and application of bioinformatics tools to analyse data from the environmental genomics, ecophysiology and biodiversity projects. Your role will include developing the infrastructure for the archiving and analyses of data, as well as building and installing software plus testing, and you will also actively liaise between IT support and biologists.

Systems Engineer Position at the EBI

Position Senior Systems Engineer
Organisation European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL)
Location Hinxton, near Cambridge, UK

The EBI provides network services for data retrieval and computational analysis of biological data. These services are crucial to the global molecular biology research community and require constant support and development to remain state-of-the-art. We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our External Services team, which has a central role in the provision of these services.

The post holder will be responsible for the software environment in which the services are deployed. This will involve close work with the Systems and Networking group (responsible for the hardware environment) and with the developers of individual services within the External Services team and other teams at the EBI. The primary duties include:

Job: Bioinformatician (Centre for Medical Oncology Institute of Cancer)

The Centre for Medical Oncology has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Bioinformatician with strong statistical skills and a track record of the analysis of data from high throughput technologies. You will be expected to participate in the design and analysis of profiling experiments, and be able to provide biostatistical support for a range of studies.

You should ideally have a background in the biological or statistical sciences, either with a PhD in quantitative bioinformatics or able to demonstrate similar abilities. You should have a solid understanding of microarray data interpretation and a comprehensive working knowledge of biostatistical techniques. Experience in large dataset manipulation and visualisation using R/MatLab and languages such as Perl or Python is highly desirable

Job: Scientific Programmer (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance/NMR)

EMBLThe aim of the project is to assist in creating a unified data resource for spectral Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and structural Protein Data Bank (PDB) data, with enhanced deposition, visualisation and validation tools. The post holder's task will involve working within the Collaborative Computing Project for the NMR community (CCPN) data model framework, the Autodep deposition system and the AstexViewer visualisation tool. Other responsibilities include continuous interaction with the BioMagResBank (BMRB) for data exchange and with the CCPN project for the data storage, as well as in-house analysis of the NMR data.
