As a web developer in the Web team you will be involved in maintaining this world class web service and ensure that the institute's data resources are made available across the world via the numerous Sanger hosted websites. The successful candidate will work as part of the team and be involved in the ongoing development and implementation of high quality, user friendly web interfaces to support the scientific web services.

The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute leads the world in genomic research, with an expanding scientific programme dedicated to understanding gene function in health & disease. The goal of the Sanger malaria genetics programme is to understand the molecular basis of disease and immunity in malaria, by investigating the biological consequences of natural variation in the human and plasmodial genomes. An important component of the programme is to analyse genetic variation in both the host and the parasite, in thousands of malaria-infected individuals recruited in multicentre clinical and epidemiological studies.

Cranfield UniversityThe Cranfield bioinformatics group is looking for a new group member, to work primarily on further development of our Genome Annotating Proteomic Pipeline (GAPP). Working in close collaboration with the rest of the GAPP team, you’ll implement additional functionality and help biologists make new discoveries using our system. You’ll need to have a PhD, and good skills in programming and databases. Prior knowledge of bioinformatics, particularly proteomics, is desirable but not essential.
