 Bioinformatician

Position Bioinformatician
Organisation European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI)
Location Hinxton, near Cambridge CB10 1SD United Kingdom

The Bioinformaticians, who are usually biologists or biochemists with strong programming skills, contribute to the maintenance and development of the databases in the EBI’s Protein and Nucleotide Database Group (PANDA).

The selected candidate will be responsible for the analysis and annotation of sequence data using UNIX-based software tools, the extraction of biological information from scientific literature or databases using high-throughput methods and the development of new analysis and annotation tools. In addition to these activities, the incumbent will contribute to the development of the group’s external services and develop internal and external software specifications.

Postdoctoral Scientist / Ph.D. student

Position Postdoctoral Scientist / Ph.D. Student
Organisation Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (http://www.molgen.mpg.de)
Location Berlin 14195 Germany

The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics is an international research institute with approx. 500 employees, working in the field of medical genomics. A special focus lies on genome analysis of man and other organisms.

The Otto Warburg Junior Research Group of Dr. Sascha Sauer, “Nutrigenomics and Gene Regulation”, is seeking outstanding candidates for several positions:

Postdoctoral Scientist
(TVöD E 13) • OWL 04-18

Ph.D. student
(TVöD E 13/2) • OWL 04-19

The group is focusing on the analysis of molecular interaction of small molecules with gene regulation networks with the aim to understand and model cellular processes related to the therapy of metabolic diseases.

The IET Conference on Synthetic Biology, Systems Biology and Bioinformatics 2008 (BioSysBio2008)

Event The IET Conference on Synthetic Biology, Systems Biology and Bioinformatics 2008 (BioSysBio2008)
Start 20 Apr 2008 - 12:00am
End 22 Apr 2008 - 12:00am
20 Apr 2008 - 12:00am
22 Apr 2008 - 12:00am
Etc/GMT+1

IET BioSysBio 2008 is primarily aimed at graduate students, post-docs and junior faculty working in biology and biotechnology.

Following the very successful BioSysBio 2007 event held in Manchester, The IET BioSysBio 2008 will again bring together the best young researchers working in Synthetic Biology, Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, providing a platform to hear and discuss the most recent scientific advances and applications in these fascinating fields. The IET BioSysBio 2008 will also provide a focus on researcher training, with a series of hands on workshops integrated into the main programme.
